by Farirai Macheka

Lipstick, foundation, being smudged on the masks? A tad sad about waving goodbye to lipstick and bronzer? We are in a season where masks are now second skin and doing a face beat doesn't make sense. Newsflash!! There is no need to trade your beauty wand for a bare face. Treat yourself to stylish masks for all the days of the week and read on for some amazing tips to glam up your face. Read through for six (6) mask appropriate and creative makeup tips that will brighten your trip to the shops, or to the office

Skin care comes first!!! Supple dewy, 'glass skin has always been the rage. To achieve this look you need to hydrate. Also recalibrate and lay low on the harsh scrubs that scourge your skin as well as heavy duty toners and thick creams. Rather go for gentler cleansers, hydrating toner, gel moisturizer, serum and sunscreen. Be on the lookout for products with ingredients that are light and won't exacerbate clogging of skin pores. This is the time to boldly embrace the trend that has been making waves in the beauty streets for the past few years. Minimalists will definitely love this barely-there look.

Whether you are going for threading, trimming, waxing or tweezing, emphasis is on grooming your eyebrows. Be sure to add structure by shaping them. If not properly done, it will mess up your facial symmetry. Fill in your eyebrows with a brow pen and add brow gel to keep them in place. It’s all about precise light strokes to mimic real hair and add volume. Overdone eyebrows are distracting, so don't go overboard. As eyes are the windows to your soul, eyebrows are the curtains that frame your face.

Lined eyelids and glammed up eyelashes go hand in hand. Get creative with the eyes considering all the attention is on the upper half of the face. There are three ways to make your gorgeous eyes pop. A flawless look depends on your choice of eyeshadow, eyeliner and the state of your eyebrows:

  • EyeLiner-Line it up! You can rock a colored liner on your eyelids, key to note is to ensure that you apply it correctly so that your eyes look brighter.
  • Eyelash Extension- Amp up your eyelashes by applying your favourite mascara or splurge on those eyelash extensions. Depending on your preferences you can use mink, faux mink, silk or synthetic extensions. These are some of the hottest beauty trends right now. You can apply them in the comfort of your home without making that trip to your favourite Make-Up-Artist ((MUA). Use specially formulated semi-permanent glue that will not irritate your eyes or the natural lash.
  • EyeShadow- Get expressive with colour, if turning heads is big on your options list. Go bold with eye color!!! The key is to ensure that your eye colour compliments your mask. If you are rocking a mask with print go for the natural, muted colours.

We all need that lip balm that can hold its own against food and drinks and when put to the test it doesn't transfer to the mask. A lil TLC for the lips will go a long way despite masks being mandatory. Gently scrub your lips to get rid of the dead skin. Apply moisturising matte lipbalm which doesn't leave a sticky film on the mask. Invest in moisturising long lasting lipbalm that is composed of oil based ingredients such as castor. Lipbalm should be a mainstay in your beauty routine. These will make that pout pop when you take off your mask.

With these awesome tips you will definitely feel good and rock your mask with confidence. Remember to wash you mask everyday to avoid maskane.
