Edgars Stores Limited proudly hosted its 15th Fashion Extravaganza Cocktail and Dinner on 29 August 2025 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, where fashion, industry and advocacy came together in one unforgettable evening. Themed “A Stitch in Time”, the event celebrated Zimbabwe’s creative identity and resilience. Guests enjoyed a glamorous red carpet, fine dining, and breathtaking runway showcases from some of Zimbabwe’s most exciting designers. The Guest of Honour, Engineer Tafadzwa Muguti, praised Edgars for its investment in local manufacturing through the Carousel production plant, which is creating jobs, expanding output, and producing high-quality clothing with the help of the new machinery added to the factory this year. He highlighted the executive directive that exempts Carousel from load shedding, ensuring uninterrupted production, and encouraged Edgars to take advantage of low-interest capital to expand its store footprint and create more value along the supply chain. Speaking at the event, Group CEO Mr. Sevious Mushosho reflected on Edgars’ journey and the challenges faced by the local clothing industry, including the influx of second-hand clothing, outdated technologyand shrinking export earnings. He called for stronger anti-smuggling measures, a total ban on mabhero, and greater support for local manufacturers to rebuild Zimbabwe’s fashion sector. The runway lit up with designs from Goddess by Fatima, Albeah Authentic, The Pfeka Collection by Ruby Touch, Templic Culture Streetwear Accessories, Hazel, the Matobo Collection by Zuvva, and Sanah, as well as an innovative showcase from Carousel Manufacturing division. Each collection blended culture, modernity, and storytelling, affirming Zimbabwe’s place in the regional fashion conversation. The evening closed with music, celebration, and a renewed call to action: to protect, promote, and grow Zimbabwe’s fashion and textile industry, while supporting the designers and manufacturers who keep it alive.
