JET Stores equips rural school
In response to some of the challenges being faced by Mushumbi Primary School, Jet Stores a subsidiary of Edgars Stores Limited donated, on Monday 27th May 2019, classroom furniture and stationery to the school.
The donation received by the school was a collaborative initiative of Jet Stores Zimbabwe, Eversharp and Save the Children Zimbabwe. Jet Zimbabwe Stores who were spearheading the project, were assisted by Save the Children International (SCI), to identify the school.
SCI mentioned the lack of furniture as one of the major challenges that the school was facing. The iconic fashion brand together with its partner Eversharp settled on Mbire Primary School as the beneficiary school.
So many schools needed support, but the SCI team made a compelling case for Mbire School as shortage of desks affected efficiency of learning for students and teachers alike. The clothing retailer (Jet Stores) quickly saw their opportunity to improve the children’s education and roped in Eversharp to take part in the noble cause.
As part of the ongoing CSR project, Jet Stores donated clothing and toiletries worth RTGS$5 000, Edgars` The Club Rural Schools Development Fund donated 20 seater desks worth RTGS$ 4000, and its partner Eversharp donated stationery to Mushumbi Primary school located at the outskirts of Bindura. The donation made by these corporates was worth over RTGS$10 000. The three stakeholders believe that they have a critical role to play in the development of communities that they operate in.
Capacitating the school through investing in classroom desk and stationery is a step towards creating a conducive learning environment and improving children's education.
As a fashion brand that is passionate about children, Jet believes in getting behind worthwhile causes that make a real difference in the community. Jet Stores strives to ensure that it sows back into the community- as it believes that kids are the guardians of the future and investing in people through education is reality that works in eradicating poverty.
In the seven years that Jet has been in Zimbabwe, the brand has managed to extend its footprint to almost every town in Zimbabwe. Jet Stores has 25 stores across Zimbabwe with plans underway to expand the branch network to the towns as the brand seeks to bring convenience to shoppers and also through custom made Financial Services products that include Laybys, Loans and Credit Accounts.
